Studio Guido Moretti


Guido MorettiMr. Guido Moretti was professor-reseacher of Urban Planning at the Department of Architecture and Territorial Planning, University of Bologna, Italy, and freelancer with professional study in Bologna, Via Orefici 4, No 2446A position in the register of Engineers of the Province of Bologna.
He deals with issues relating to the territory buildings, particularly on the smaller settlements and, more generally, on the lost knowledge of traditional architecture, on which he has published several works.
Mr. Moretti is part of the Faculty Master's Degree in Eco-sustainable Architecture, of the Scientific Committee of the Inter-University Center on Urban Centers, of the International Course for Advanced Landscape and of the Scientific Board of the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies on Islam at the University of Bologna.
He spent some time in Algiers, where he participated in the drafting of the plan to restructure the Casbah.
He has conducted studies and research on specific technologies of adobe and on passive cooling of buildings in traditional settlements in arid land, which are collected in the volumes that make up the "Trilogy of the Desert": La Casa di Hatra (2006), Deserts and Signs (2007 ), and Living Desert (2008).
Deserts and Signs had a preface by Cherif Rahmani, Ambassador of the United Nations, spokesman for the Year 2006 Year of Deserts and Desertification, Minister of Tourism, Country Planning and the Environment of Algeria.
He worked in various countries of the Middle East and Africa with projects in architecture. International collaboration included the great mosque of the General Tobacco Company in Tripoli, Libya (1980) and recently (2006) "La Casa de la Mujer" center built in adobe for the Union of Saharawi Women in Rabouni, Tindouf (Algeria), involving international cooperation with humanitarian character. The project, published in the international magazine of architecture "The Plan", received an official nomination for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture 2008-2010.
Mr. Moretti carries out consultancy assignments concerning environmental issues for the Stelvio National Park, the Adamello-Brenta Natural Park, and the Maritime Alps Natural Park.
He was member of several boards both of national and international architectural and constructions.
He chaired the Committee on Quality Architectural and Landscape of the City of Bologna. He is a member of the Comité de Parrainage de la Fondation Déserts du Monde with headquarters in Algiers.
His project for the renovation of the Baita Premessaria in Val di Fiemme (see portfolio of works) was selected and present in the Italian Pavilion of Biannual Architecture in Venice 2018.
He is Editorial Director of Edizioni Tipoarte Bologna.
Not less secondary is the industrial design activity, in which he received international recognition with two products at his signature presented - Marposs E4 and Marposs E35 - at Tsukuba Expo '85, and at Expo '86 in Vancouver and a product - Viro safe RAM 7 - vith a nomination to the Compasso d'Oro '86.
